    Product Review: Caker’s Warehouse Buttercream

My friends at Caker’s Warehouse gave me some of their premade Buttercream to try. They gave it to me for free to see what I thought, but as you know by now, if I don’t like something, I’ll tell you straight!I’ve tasted a LOT of premade Buttercream’s, and never been massively impressed… until now..

    A Tale of Two Buttercreams..

As you know, I only use Basic Buttercream in my work, but I’m always asked what premade Buttercreams can I recommend, ’cause sometimes time, weather, or just can’t be bothered can come into play.I’ve tasted quite a few premade Buttercreams, some not too bad, some so bad I wanted to claw out my tongue, but I hadn’t tried one that I could actually recommend. Until I tried Caker’s Warehouse Buttercream.

When the folks at Caker’s Warehouse asked me to try their Buttercream, I seriously held my breathe. Partly to brace myself just in case, and partly because I really do want to find a premade Buttercream I can recommend. And guess what? It tastes delicious. Kinda marshmallow-y, but not ridiculously sweet.

The best bit? ITS A CRUSTING BUTTERCREAM!!! Depending on your climate, you may have to mix through a little more powdered sugar to get it to crust at room temperature, but crust it does! I gave it a test run, and here’s how it went.

    About Caker’s Warehouse Buttercream

Its Vegan, Dairy free, and Gluten free. Its shelf stable for a month, or 3 in the fridge. Its heat stable. Its crisp white. It colours perfectly, and pipes like Basic Buttercream. Its a spreadable Unicorn basically. It crusts, and can be textured, painted, and so far everything else that I can do with Basic Buttercream. I’m a little bit excited. We used this for my Buttercream Flowers class at the International Cake Show Australia in Brisbane in May, and even under bright lights, and with warm nervous hands, it still didn’t sag. Yep. I’m excited.

    Where can you get it?

As far as I know, you can only buy it directly from Caker’s Warehouse, which is based South of Sydney here in Australia, HOWEVER, they do ship all over Australia, AND INTERNATIONALLY!!

    How much is it?

It comes in 800g (1.8lbs)  and 2kg (4.4lbs) tubs, which retail for AU$9, and AU$18 respectively (plus shipping or pick up in store).

    How does it look?

See that cake at the top of the post? That’s Caker’s Warehouse Buttercream, straight from the tub. Crisp white, easy to texture, coloured brilliantly (even with a dark colour like the Americolor Expresso I used for the pinecones!), and piped lovely and smooth. Its smooth, with no bubbles, and no gritty feel, and smooths out to a perfect finish.

    The Verdict

Its official, this is the premade Buttercream I recommend. Will I stop using Basic Buttercream? No, that’s like saying now you’ve found Strawberry frosting, will you stop using Chocolate frosting!

They both have their place, and certainly if you are making a Wedding cake and need CRISP white, then this is a must have. The point is, if you need or want a premade Buttercream, this is the one I will be reaching for.I’m always happy to bring you guys what I think is the best of the caking world, whether its recipes, products, tools, or classes. If you have a question about something, drop me a line! There’s a pretty good bet I’ve already tried it ?
